About Us?

The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health (IUIH) is a community-controlled health service that leads the development, planning and delivery of comprehensive primary health care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in South East Queensland.

 

About Our Psychologist Roles:

Due to our growth, we are looking for passionate Counsellors, Psychologists and Senior Psychologists, specialising in all Social Health fields including Adult, Drug and Alcohol, Perinatal and Children, to join our Social Health team in both full-time and part-time capacities. Psychologists and Counsellors in our team provide culturally appropriate clinical care and support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This role is focused on culturally appropriate, family-centred assessment and therapeutic care. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Positions available in the Gold Coast region
  • Provide focused and culturally appropriate therapeutic support to clients with varied presentations
  • Undertake comprehensive assessment of clients’ mental health and alcohol and other drug issues, as well as their wider psychosocial needs and situation
  • Create individual treatment plans within a recovery-oriented and family-centred framework.
  • Work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team, to provide integration and coordination between different programs, to facilitate the delivery of an efficient and responsive mental health services to clients
  • The provision of informal and formal psychological assessments to clients (Psychologist)
  • Manage a case load of clients with varying needs and identified issues, in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary health service team

 

About You?

To be considered for this position, candidates must have had their Covid-19 Booster (3rd Dose) prior to the interview stage.

Essentials:

  • AHPRA Registration with Psychology Board Australia
  • Minimum Cert IV in Counselling
  • Bachelor of Psychology
  • Valid Disability Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card) must have prior to commencement
  • Current QLD Drivers Licence
  • Knowledge of and a passionate interest in the social and mental health issues experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, children and families
  • The ability to support a range of clients and community members, presenting with presentations associated with trauma, alcohol and drug use, and adverse life experiences
