JOB DESCRIPTION

Very Helpful Chats is a virtual psychology and allied health practice providing mental health treatment, assessments and coaching to neurodivergent adults and adolescents. We are now seeking new clinical team members and contractors – anywhere in Australia – to provide neurodiversity-affirming clinical services via telehealth.

 

Position Summary :

The Psychologist / Occupational Therapist / Speech therapist and Dietitian will be responsible for providing mental health treatment, assessments, coaching, NDIS capacity-building services and other clinical services to neurodivergent adults and adolescents via telehealth.

  • Employees will receive ongoing employment in a permanent work from home role. Full-time and part-time roles are available. Choose your days and times around your needs and commitments.
  • Salary negotiable dependent upon experience post registration/accreditation, starting at $85,000 for new grads and prov psychs and up to $120,000 for experienced professionals with >8 years in the profession.

Independent contractor benefits:

  •  Be your own boss as an independent contractor in a business-to-business arrangement. We provide you with marketing, administration and diary management and you provide our clients with high-quality, evidence-based neurodiversity-affirming clinical services.
  • A very supportive management and administration team will handle the advertising and marketing to help you find your ideal clients matched to your strengths and interests.
  • You will be contracting to a workplace where you will receive genuine respect and understanding for your neurodivergence, disability, and physical and mental health needs.
  • Contractor rates between $100 and $190 per appointment dependent upon experience post-registration-accreditation. 

 

Key Requirements (depending on discipline) may include :

  • Qualifications, registration/accreditation and experience working as a psychologist or provisional psychologist, occupational therapist, speech therapist or dietitian (essential)
  • Experience delivering mental health treatment to adults and/or adolescents (essential).
  • Experience working with neurodivergent adults including Autistic adults, adult ADHD’ers, adults with learning differences, intellectual disability (desirable)
  • Experience delivering mental health treatment to adults and/or adolescents living with chronic physical health conditions, chronic illness or chronic pain (desirable).
  • Experience providing sensory and interoceptive interventions for neurodivergent adults or adolescents (desirable).
  • Experience in psychological assessment of ADHD and Autism and report writing (desirable).
  • Experience in the assessment of functional capacity and disability needs and report writing for NDIS purposes (desirable)
  • Lived experience of ADHD, Autism, learning differences, disability, mental illness, chronic physical illness or chronic pain (desirable).
  • Own computer with high speed, reliable internet and a private office (essential).

 

Job responsibilities (depending on discipline) may include the ability to:

  • Deliver neurodiversity-affirming individual consultations via telehealth to adult and adolescent clients seeking mental health treatment, coaching, sensory and interoceptive support, and NDIS capacity-building services.
  • Provide other clinical services to clients via telehealth as agreed and in line with skills and experience.
  • Conduct psychological assessments to identify Autism or ADHD in adult and adolescent clients and prepare neurodiversity-affirming written reports.
  • Conduct assessments of functional capacity and disability needs and prepare written reports for NDIS applications and reviews.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans when indicated.
  • Develop treatment goals and intervention areas in collaboration with clients that are tailored to the individual’s needs, disability and life circumstances.
  • Meet reporting requirements for clients referred under Medicare and DVA.
  • Participate in supervision and continuing professional development activities to maintain registration requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients in accordance with federal and state privacy laws.
