Organisation Overview

Carbal Medical Services (Carbal) is a Not-For-Profit organisation that provides health services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in and around Toowoomba and Warwick. The core function of Carbal Medical Services is to provide medical services to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people through two medical practices and many community programs, along with being an NDIS service provider. Carbal covers the regions of Darling Downs and Southern Downs.

Position Overview

Carbal is seeking an experienced candidate to provide exceptional care and support for some of our most vulnerable people in their homes and in the community. If you are keen to learn, have a demonstrated skillset in mental health or support work, like to help people and are looking for a challenging yet rewarding workplace then we would like to meet you.

  • Be part of a multidisciplinary team addressing mental health in the community;
  • Work one-on-one with community members in gaining access to the supports they need;
  • Be driven, motivated and have a passion to assist community members to foster independence and resilience, and achieve their goals;
  • Possess high level communication skills, the ability to work under supervision and independently, and a thirst to learn;
  • Work closely with GPs,  Aboriginal Health Workers, other health professionals;
  • Build and maintain respectful and meaningful community relationships;
  • Have knowledge and experience working with clients with various levels of mental health issues.

Requirements:

  • You will have considerable experience in working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and a clear understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture;
  • You will have a demonstrated understanding of the health and social issues found in our Indigenous Communities;
  • Understanding of NDIS access request applications and requirements;
  • You must have an Open C Class driver license and possess a Blue Card and be willing to undergo a Police Check;
  • Evidence of COVID-19 double vaccination 
  • You will have a demonstrated ability to work as part of team.
  • A Mental Health and/or Aboriginal Health Worker qualification would be highly desirable.
