JOB DESCRIPTION

The Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge is seeking an experienced Female to commence work within the role of Refuge Team Leader

The Tennant Creek Women’s Refuge is committed to hearing the voices of women and children and providing holistic support that includes safe accommodation, education, counselling and advocacy to families at risk of or experiencing violence.

We are looking for someone with relevant tertiary qualifications in social work, counselling, mental health practice or a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role. You will be responsible for providing a high standard of support to all women who are victims of domestic and family violence. You must have an awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history.

The emphasis of our service is early intervention, prevention, education and/or referral where necessary. You and your team will need to be able to respond to a diverse range of issues, including, but not limited to, grief and loss, violence and abuse, parenting concerns, stress and anxiety and separation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Active responsibility for responding to domestic, family or sexual violence within a risk assessment framework pertaining to the safety of women and children, more specifically the NT Government’s Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Reduction Framework 2018-2028
  • The priority of high-risk clients
  • Positive contribution to a safe and supportive working environment without exception
  • A teamwork approach to service delivery with strong leadership and outstanding capabilities to negotiate with stakeholders
  • Compliance with requisite business systems including effective procedures, practices and associated internal control systems
  • Responsive approaches to notifiable incidents across a 24/7 working environment.
  • Trauma informed approach

Prior to commencement you will be required to be in possession of:

  • Working with Children (Ochre) card
  • National Police History Check
  • Current Driver’s License
