Registered Psychologist providing psychosocial risk management, clinical support, consultation, and workshop facilitation in a workplace setting.

Location: 

MHM is based in the Illawarra and the successful candidate must be willing to travel across Australia to meet client needs and objectives.

Job Summary: 

We are seeking an experienced Registered Psychologist who has experience working in a workplace setting such as facilitating mental health related workshops and training, consulting with organisations or developing workplace programs to join our MHM team. 

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing our comprehensive psychosocial risk management program for our clients, within the Australian workplace. This role involves developing and conducting training, actioning risk assessments, reporting, correlating, and evaluating data, and offering expert guidance to clients on managing psychosocial risks in their organizations. The role will also involve providing 1:1 professional support sessions with workers as part of their organisation’s overarching mental health strategy. 

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with clients to assess their specific psychosocial risk management needs and develop tailored strategies to address them.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential psychosocial hazards in the workplace, such as bullying, exposure to trauma, harassment and other factors that lead to poorer mental health amongst workers.
  • Develop and deliver engaging training programs on psychosocial risk management, including but not limited to topics such as mental health awareness, resilience building, and conflict resolution.
  • Provide individual support sessions to employees who may be experiencing work-related psychological issues, offering counselling and guidance to promote well-being and resilience.
  • Assist clients in implementing appropriate interventions and control measures to mitigate psychosocial risks and promote a positive work environment.
  • Stay up to date with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices related to workplace health and safety, psychosocial risk management, and mental health in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, such as Human Resources and Occupational Health and Safety, to ensure a holistic approach to workplace health and safety.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations based on risk assessments and program evaluations, highlighting areas for improvement, and suggesting actionable strategies.
  • Provide ongoing support and consultation to clients, addressing their concerns and questions related to psychosocial risk management.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor on matters related to psychosocial risk management and employee well-being.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Psychologist with a valid license to practice in Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of psychology. Previous experience in a workplace setting is highly desirable. For example, developing and delivering mental health related workshops and training or consulting with organisations on matters related to employee wellbeing 
  • Willing to learn how to conduct psychosocial risk assessments and develop risk management strategies.
  • Knowledge of Australian workplace health and safety regulations, including the relevant codes of practice for managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs on mental health related topics such as mental health awareness, resilience, supporter skills or psychosocial risk management.
  • Excellent counselling and communication skills, with the ability to provide effective 1:1 support to individuals experiencing work-related psychological issues.
  • Familiarity with evidence-based interventions and best practices for promoting mental health and well-being in the workplace.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including clients, employees, and other professionals, to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex situations and develop practical solutions.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
