Registered Psychologists or 5+1 provisional psychologists Good Prospects Speech Pathology

JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITIONS AVAILABLE – OPTION FOR A SENIOR POSITION

We are seeking Psychologists or Proviional Psychologists who are or will be eligible for practising membership of AHPRA to commence work within our highly regarded and experienced practice either immediately or upon graduation.  Please note we are not requiring you to be practising members of Speech Pathology Australia – that was inserted in error and cannot be changed.  AHPRA registration is what is required.

What are the jobs?

These positions are based in our metropolitan offices and out of our Berri office (SA Riverland, 250 easy kms from Adelaide).  They are salaried, permanent and ongoing subject to a probationary period of 6 months.

You would be working locally and across our team of existing speech pathologists, psychologists, allied health assistants and generous admin.

We welcome applicants with experience and encourage new graduates or early career psychologists, wanting potentially to work across the full scope of psychology practice, to apply.

For people interested in Berri, we are looking for people who may be keen to embrace country life in a beautiful region and become a part of the broader local community whilst having strong connections with the Adelaide metro area and team. The salaries are generous and more than competitive with other practices and a sign on incentive is available for anyone wanting to work out of our Berri office. Salaries will be based on experience and the option to apply as a Senior Psychologist/Team Leader based in metropolitan Adelaide or Berri, with a much higher salary exists.

Practice Background

Our Core values as a practice are:

  • Honestly, we care
  • We are evidence based
  • We have continuous improvement
  • We listen

Our practice is located in four locations in Northern and Western Adelaide and country South Australia (Prospect, Salisbury, Port Adelaide and Berri).  Working from home including tele-health is a negotiable option.

We offer the full range of adult and child services across the lifespan, allowing people to focus on their areas of interest. We have a majority caseload of pre-school and school aged children but increasingly we work with a range of adults with NDIS plans, brain injury, fluency, hearing impairment, fluency and voice, just to name a few.  We have a specialist adult neuro speech pathologist and consultant on our team and access to a PhD psychologist for supervision.

The majority of our clients are registered with the NDIS. We also have a strong fee-paying client cohort.

We engage with tele-health actively for clients where this is suitable, or if they are not able to do face to face sessions due to being symptomatic or having COVID-19 but are OK for therapy

We provide voice and counseling services including for those who are Transgender or are considering gender transition.

We were finalists in the 2019 Telstra Business Awards – Social Change Maker Category and the 2020 SA Fast Movers Category both of which reflect our practice philosophy of genuinely making a difference in peoples’ lives.

Each office is a part of its own “village” which gives a small practice feel with the benefits of a larger team.  There are strong tiers of experience within the practice including a Principal speech pathologist who provides hands on and structured professional support and development for all speech pathology staff and for psychology we make sure we have the appropriate support services.

More details about the job and future options

We have a 4 tier level career comprehensive job pathway which reflects our commitment to your work journey.  In addition to competitive salaries, we have a recently developed incentive program for those who meet or exceed the practice’s minimum expectations or KPIs.

All team members will be remunerated commensurate with their experience and acting in Senior positions is possible within the practice to build skills and experience for the future.

In acknowledgement of challenging times, we also have a confidential Employee Assist program for those who may need it, especially in this COVID era and have this established with a Melbourne based Psychology practice.

Relocation expenses would be negotiated for anyone moving to the Riverland from elsewhere in SA or interstate and relocation expenses for people moving from interstate to Adelaide metro would also be negotiated

Professional Support

We are a practice run by practicing and ‘on the ground’ people, not business managers.  Depending on your experience, weekly or fortnightly 1:1 professional support is supplied to ALL professional staff especially in your first 3-6 months when you will have a limited caseload and additional professional development opportunities. We will honour AHPRA regulated supervision within the work week.

In-house professional development takes place and clinicians are encouraged and supported to maintain their professional development through rigorous professional development processes which more than meet Speech pathology Australia and AHPRA requirements. This includes the option to attend external professional development by negotiation in relation to each individual’s performance plan. We provide an annual professional development allowance in addition to at least 5 full team days per year which are largely PD focused.

Strong, evidence based professional support is a key feature for all professionals working within the practice, whatever their level of experience, and a very strong team relationship is fostered. We are a highly resourced practice with a very broad range of evidence-based assessments and intervention options including a broad range of technology. We also have a lot of fun!

What does it mean to be a successful applicant?

The successful applicants will be seeking to foster their skills potentially with both adults and children and maybe someone who has a special area of special interest or experience, but this can be discussed once you have registered an interest with us.

These are full-time positions but part time work is also an option

We welcome applications from bi-lingual professionals as we operate in highly culturally and linguistically diverse environments. We pride ourselves on being absolutely an equal opportunity employer. All people who are eligible to work as a Speech Pathologist in Australia are welcome to apply.

We are seeking people who are not only a good or potentially very good speech pathologists but the right fit for our team. People who also have an interest and passion in working with people who may be vulnerable or socially disadvantaged

Some experience is preferred (probably no great surprise) but new graduates or those close to graduating are welcome to apply.  The right people will have the capacity to work independently some of the time but more importantly be great team players.    Time for both paperwork and independent study is provided within the working day and we have the capacity for you to sign a Working from Home Policy to work remotely if required.
