  • Indicative Total Remuneration: $101,788 – $165,240 p.a – MDP2
  • Full Time – Long Term Contract (5 Feb 2024 and up to 4 Feb 2027

The Opportunity 

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Medical Practitioners to work as a Registrar in the Paediatric Emergency Department at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital. This is a position in the Paediatric Emergency Department providing the incumbent with training opportunities in Paediatric Emergency Medicine. The PED sees over 45000 patients annually and is the State’s Major Trauma Service for Paediatrics. There is an attached 12 bed Emergency Extended Care Unit (EECU) with over 5000 admissions annually. The department has a strong consultant led ethos. The department is accredited by both Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian College for Emergency Medicine (18 months of training).

This position contributes to the provision of comprehensive, effective and efficient Paediatric Emergency Services by working under Consultant supervision and managing the care of all emergency presentations and EECU inpatients, including the coordination of investigations, supervision of junior staff & students, discussion with patients/families, liaison with statutory authorities and patient discharge. The successful candidate will be encouraged to participate in postgraduate training as directed and supervised by the clinical Head, participate in appropriate and approved research, and in collaboration with the Consultant, participate in clinical reviews and assisting in the collection of data for clinical indicators.
