We are seeking an “out of the box” thinking compassionate and committed rehabilitation counsellor / occupational therapist to help our members regain control of their recovery journey to improve their quality of life and attain the goals. My Social Support Network is a NSW based but completely hybrid workplace rehabilitation provider. Our clients are all over NSW and you can work from anywhere in Australia.
In this role we want you to be free to enjoy your work, focus on the people you serve and be able to use your critical thinking and health professional skills in creative and caring ways. You will be responsible for onboarding new members (injured workers) into the My Social Support Network online platform, conduct individual intake sessions, developing individual plans, strategies and work with critical stakeholders until the member has returned to community and or work.
Responsibilities
- Have experience in workers compensation stakeholder management to keep all parties updated on progress and recovery
- Evaluating clients’ abilities, interests, experience, skills, health, and education.
- Assisting individuals to adapt to a disability acquired through injury later in life.
- Working alongside other healthcare workers to facilitate access to community and or social support.
- Work with our members to consider their individual strengths and limitations when creating individual plans and develop creative strategies to return to community and work.
- Developing My Social Support Network plans in consultation with members, doctors, therapists, and psychologists.
- Facilitate My Social Support Network live sessions through the My Social Support Network portal.
- Be creative in locating resources and / or community support.
- Identify career training opportunities and educating employers about the abilities and needs of clients.
- Cheering members on through their small win progress and adjusting plans as needed and report to stakeholders.
Rehabilitation Consultant Requirements:
- Experience with the NSW workers compensation scheme
- Extensive experience with physical and emotional disabilities, including substance abuse, grief, and emotional trauma.
- Competency with electronic health record system VINCI or similar.
- Experience with underlying health conditions.
- In-depth knowledge of how people function mentally, emotionally, and socially.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and caring nature.
- Able to work in a hybrid working environment across a variety of technology platforms.
- Excellent organisational skills, strong time management skills and commitment to attending to detail.
- Collaborative teammate with exceptional analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Health Sciences or Rehabilitation Counselling
- Full or Provisional registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Psychologist or eligibility for full membership with Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC) or the Rehabilitation Counsellors Association of Australasia (RCAA) as a Rehabilitation Counsellor is mandatory
- Occupational Therapist with AHPRA registration
- A passion for reducing social isolation, helping people back to community, injury prevention, return to work, and the associated health benefits.
- A current driver licence and access to their own vehicle
