The Opportunity
The CanARY study (Cannabidiol for At Risk (of psychosis) Youth is a multicentre clinical trial investigating whether subthreshold psychotic symptoms can be effectively treated with cannabidiol (CBD) combined with psychosocial treatment as usual.
The Role
We are looking for a research assistant to support the recruitment of young people into this clinical trial and ensure delivery of trial requirements across multiple sites in the Perth metropolitan region.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- To engage and recruit participants into the trial across multiple sites
- Interview participants using a battery of standardised clinical assessment instruments, in accordance with the research protocol.
- Confident and accurate management of participant data
- Assist with medical assessments and handling of biological samples from participants.
- Communicate and coordinate with all stakeholders across the program including youth mental health providers, clients, internal staff and key stakeholders.
This role is a 24-month contract at 0.6FTE with likely increase to a higher FTE.
About you
Minimum qualifications include an undergraduate degree in a health science. This role would suit applicants with psychology, social work, occupational therapy, nursing, other allied health or public health qualifications.
The following skills, knowledge and experience are essential criteria for the position:
- Experience working with young people with mental health concerns, preferably in a clinical setting.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience in building relationships and working collaboratively with key stakeholders at various levels.
- Well-developed computer literacy.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to work with and respect diverse peoples, including Aboriginal, culturally diverse and gender diverse people.
- Current driver’s license and willingness to drive within the metropolitan area.
- Well-developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
The following skills, knowledge and experience are desirable criteria for the position:
- Experience conducting clinical assessments or interviews with people with mental health concerns.
- Experience in clinical trials
- Experience working with clinical teams in a clinical or research context
The successful candidate will be asked to provide a satisfactory National Police and working with children check prior to commencement.
