JOB DESCRIPTION

About the role:

The Residential Care Worker is responsible for: 

  • Caring for children and young people who can no longer live at home due to trauma, family concerns, abuse and/or neglect.
  • Supporting the journey of healing for children and young people in our care utilising therapeutic responses and interventions.
  • Providing a nurturing and homely environment that provides a sense of safety, structure, acceptance and security. 
  • Ensuring that children and young people’s rights and interests are protected.
  • Acting as an effective role model and carer.
  • Supporting children and young people to maintain links with their family, culture and community. 
  • Supporting young people to engage and attend a day program, activities and appointments.

 

  1. Multiple Permanent Full Time, Part Time active night vacancies

Based in Hamilton or Warrnambool (in your application please disclose your preferred location and whether you are applying for option 1, or option 2 vacancies). 

 

Key Selection Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

• A Certificate IV in Child, Youth and Family Intervention (Residential and out of home care), or other similar or relevant tertiary qualifications.

• A current valid Victorian driver’s licence 

• Highly developed capacity for emotional self-regulation, including the capacity to set and maintain consistent boundaries to provide safety, stability, and consistency. 

• A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families. Cultural awareness training will be provided for successful applicants.
