About The Role:
The Residential Youth Worker works within a team of like minded individuals under the supervision of a Care Coordinator, to provide stability, consistency and security for the children and young people in our care.
This role requires the capacity to work day shifts, night shifts, sleepovers, weekends and public holidays.
About You:
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Demonstrate high levels of resilience, patience and unconditional positive regard whilst confidently working with challenging behaviours.
- Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage children and young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth.
- Embed strong practice frameworks into daily habits.
- Provide detailed written reports with the online tools provided, following policy and legislative requirements whilst maintaining full confidentiality.
- Support the involvement of family and significant others and promote positive relationships.
- Engage with stakeholders within the community to support the development of children and young people.
- Provide the essential needs for the children and young people.
- Encourage independent living skills including but not limited to, cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping and cleaning.
- Work both autonomously and as part of a care team.
Essential Criteria
- Hold, or be working towards, a Certificate IV or higher in Youth and Community Services or related field.
- A current blue card (or willing to obtain).
- Open Driver’s license.
- LCS2 Check Approved (or willing to obtain)
- Possess strong personal values including; integrity, dignity, compassion, diversity and excellence.
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Criteria
- Experience working within Child Protection Residential Care Programs, with an understanding of the complexities that come with working in this environment.
- Experience attending multi disciplinary meetings and adhering to behavioural and safety plans as provided by external therapeutic specialists and stakeholders.
- Experience working with children and young people who display physical aggression, self-harm, verbal abuse, and property damage.
