About the role:
The youth worker supports a team of like-minded individuals under the supervision of a Service Lead, to provide stability, consistency and security for the young people in our care.
About You
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Demonstrate high levels of resilience, patience, and unconditional positive regard whilst confidently working with challenging behaviours.
- Act as an appropriate adult role model, seeking to engage the young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth.
- Embed strong practice frameworks into daily habits.
- Provide detailed written reports with the online tools provided, following policy and legislative requirements whilst maintaining full confidentiality.
- Support the involvement of family and significant others and promote positive relationships.
- Engage with stakeholders within the community to support the development of the young people.
- Provide the essential needs for the children and young people,
- Be able to support young people with complex needs and disabilities.
- Encourage independent living skills including, but not limited to, cooking, meal planning, budgeting, shopping, cleaning.
- Work autonomously and part of a team.
Successful applicants require the following:
- A current Blue Card
- Child Safety and Personal History Screening Check
- Hold, or be working towards, a Certificate IV or higher in Youth and Community Services or related field (or willing to enrol for candidates seeking a career change)
- complete the online Hope and Healing Framework Foundational Training prior to commencing unsupervised direct care work with children and young people.
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Current valid, open drivers licence
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Awareness and understanding of Child Protection Act 1999, Charter of Rights, Standards of Care.
- Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain relationships
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results
- Possess strong personal values including integrity, dignity, compassion, diversity and excellence.
- Exceptional communication and conflict resolution skills.
