The role is a 12 month full time contract position based in Rockingham (WA) and will require you to work on a short term intervention with each client. The work is varied and you will have your own caseload. There is a view to permanency within the team following successful completion of the initial 12 month contract, and longer term contract options are also available.
The role:
- Provide social work services face to face and remotely to members and their families on a short term basis (4-6 sessions per client)
- Carry out a variety of welfare and risk assessments
- Create detailed reports requiring high attention to detail.
- Work within a multidisciplinary to ensure Defence members and their families needs are met
- Direct clients to internal and external service providers where appropriate
- Work efficiently across a varied caseload to ensure that reports are created and submitted in line with Defence policy & procedures
- Support and work collaboratively with other members of the team
In order to be considered for this role you will;
- Have a degree or masters in Social Work with a minimum of 2 years’ post graduate experience in a variety of settings
- Able to provide short term counselling and social work support to clients who may be impacted by domestic violence, grief and loss, mental health.
- Have demonstrated intervention and risk assessment skills,
- Possess excellent communication skills (written and oral) and excellent report writing skills.
- A learning attitude where you are able to take constructive feedback to improve your social work skills throughout the contract
- Ability to work in a small team and work autonomously
- Be available for full time hours over 5 days: Monday-Friday only
- Be an Australia Citizen

- A number of probity checks are required including holding a current working with children and undertaking National police checks.
