JOB DESCRIPTION

Rural Financial Counselling Service North Queensland (RFCSNQ) delivers the Australian and Queensland  Governments Rural Financial Counselling Service program. RFCSNQ is a registered business falling under the governance of the Central Western Qld Remote Area Planning and Development Board, or RAPAD, as it is more commonly known. (www.rapad.com.au). RAPAD has delivered the RFCS program for over 20 years across much of Queensland. 

Due to the retirement of a long standing member of our team and continued growth within our organisation, RFCSNQ are seeking applicants for the following:

  1. A Rural Financial Counsellor to service the Cassowary Coast and surrounding regions in conjunction with other team members. It is expected the successful applicant will commence as soon as possible and the position will continue through to 30 June 2024. It is expected that the successful applicant will reside in that region or very near. 
  2. Potentially (awaiting funding advice), a Rural Financial Counsellor to service other areas across North Queensland. Area is currently open across North Queensland as the prospective position may involve both face to face and remote work. It is expected the successful applicant may commence early 2023 and will continue through to 30 June 2024. 
     

Our ideal candidate will possess a strong background in agri-business with qualifications in business, accounting,  law or banking. To be successful in this role you should be a self-starter who is passionate about the rural sector and the individuals and families within.  This position will entail travel across the service region and a vehicle will be supplied.  The role will involve working remotely or in an established office or in a combination of both.  

RFCSNQ provides a confidential, free and impartial rural financial counselling service to primary producers, fishers and small rural businesses experiencing financial difficulties.

The key duties and responsibilities of the role are- 

  • Develop strong relationships with key community stakeholders
  • Providing financial guidance and business planning support 
  • Preparation of cash flows and other financial instruments as required
  • Working with your community to provide strong referral networks for clients
  • Assist clients to access grant and other programs including the new drought preparedness scheme.
     

Minimum qualifications

  • Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling) however other finance related qualifications will be considered. Applicants who do not have the diploma must be prepared to begin the diploma within six months
    of appointment and complete it within one year after commencement. Applicants who have other relevant post-secondary qualifications may be able to access recognition of prior learning. 
  • Applicants with significant relevant work experience may be able to undertake recognition of current competencies. 
  • Current unrestricted driver’s licence.

    outlining their qualifications and work experience, and 
  3. Answers to each of the seven (7) selection criteria (email to obtain selection criteria), noting each answer must be no more than 400 words per SC.
