JOB DESCRIPTION

Ruth’s Women’s Shelter is a feminist organisation that has been providing crisis accommodation and support for women and children at risk of family or domestic violence since 1977. We have a vision to End Violence against women and their children.

We are seeking a Team Leader who can encompass our values of Respect, Safety, Empowerment, Integrity and Collaboration.

Who are we looking for:

This is a part-time, maximum term position through to the 30th of June 2025.

You will be responsible for providing high quality supervision, support, and leadership for a team of approx. 10. Working 8.45am-2.45pm Tuesday to Friday. This role requires flexibility to ensure the needs of the team are met from time to time. You will also need to be flexible to respond to issues impacting client safety outside of hours as needed on a shared roster. 

Your role will report to the Manager and Management Committee. 

 You will make an impact by:

  • Supervising the delivery of the daily operations which includes but not limited to case management, initial assessments, support and referrals, advocacy for clients, support worker’s; ensuring Ruth’s maintains a high level of service and support for women and children experiencing Family and Domestic Violence.
  • Leading Case Management meetings for information sharing, mutual learning, self reflection and supervision.
  • Monitoring the work practices of all staff
  • Onboarding of new staff, including induction, organisation of buddy shifts, initial health and safety training
  • Ensuing all client records and files are in line with privacy and HSQF standards and legislation.
  • Ensuring all team members are trained and up to date with relevant procedures and training.
  • Ensuring all staff are compliant with Cyber security and IT processes
  • Providing support and guidance for staff when required whilst maintaining professional boundaries
  • Rostering of all staff including approval of leave requests.
  • Providing management relief during leave periods.

You’re a passionate and confident leader who motivates and builds the capacity of others, and you have strong knowledge of domestic and family violence and how it affects families and communities. These skills will see you continuously develop staff knowledge, ensuring strength based, trauma informed practice.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Health or Human Services is preferred.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the effects and causes of domestic violence from a feminist perspective including knowledge of cultural differences and needs.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing people in complex working environments, and experience providing quality internal support to staff.
  • Well developed interpersonal and communication skills including oral and written skills.
  • Strong client and values-driven focus with knowledge and experience to supervise, integrate and evaluate diverse learnings.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively within a team environment to attain organisational goals.
  • Ability to liaise with government and non-government agencies and to advocate on behalf of clients.
  • Ability to investigate, develop and update resources.
  • Excellent computer technology skills, with the ability to adapt and learn our systems and processes.

Other requirements:

  • Maintain a current driver’s license. 
  • Hold a current Blue Card 
  • Provide confirmation of COVID-19 vaccinations 
  • First Aid and CPR (willing to obtain)
