About the role

The Safeguarding and Risk Officer has a child protection focus and will assist in investigating reportable conduct allegations of abuse and neglect in relation to children, and reportable incidents relating to children and vulnerable adults in our NDIS funded services.

This is a Permanent Full-time position for a 12 month maximum term contract. 

Duties

  • Undertake investigations into allegations of abuse and neglect.
  • Roll out initiatives to keep children and vulnerable adults safe.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation and statutory requirements, particularly keeping up to date about child protection legislations in NSW and requirements of NDIS quality and safeguards commission.
  • Inspiring risk management in the areas of safeguarding 
  • Deliver training to staff and management to increase awareness of safeguarding requirements.
  • Screen reports to assess risk.

Skills & experience

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g.: Community Services, Social Work, Psychology, Teaching, Police, etc.)
  • Experience in the children and families or Disability services sector
  • Casework/counselling/interviewing skills
  • Experience in coaching others or delivering training.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and undertaking investigations. 
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Working With Children Check and Criminal History Check required.
  • Valid NSW Driver’s License
