JOB DESCRIPTION

All Saints Anglican School opens as a brand new Anglican school in Shepparton in January 2024. We are seeking a passionate and compassionate School Chaplain to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who is committed to the emotional, spiritual, and mental well-being of our students, staff and families, and who is excited by the opportunity to help establish and build culture in our new community 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide pastoral care and guidance to students, staff, and families. 
  • Organise and lead spiritual and faith-based activities in collaboration with the school community. 
  • Offer counselling and support services to students and staff facing personal, family, or academic challenges. 
  • Foster an inclusive environment that respects the beliefs and values of all individuals. 
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and outside agencies to address the holistic needs of students. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards. 
  • Be responsible for preparing and conducting all services of eucharistic and non-eucharistic worship within the school, including regular school chapel services, staff chapel services, and staff prayer at staff briefings.  
  • Keep the principal informed of church and diocesan matters as relevant to the school community. 
  • The chaplain may also lead the religious and values education faculty and teach some classes. 

Qualifications: 

  • A relevant qualification in chaplaincy, pastoral care, or a related field. 
  • Experience working with children and young people in a supportive and caring capacity. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships. 
  • Sensitivity and respect for diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. 
  • A commitment to personal and professional development. 
  • Compliance with relevant child protection and safety legislation. 
  • Commitment to upholding the values and ethos of All Saints Anglican School and the Anglican School’s Commission.  
  • A teaching qualification is not essential but would be beneficial.

The Chaplain, licensed by the Bishop of Wangaratta, will be appointed in consultation with the Bishop and contracted by the School. 

Terms and Conditions of employment will be in accordance with the Anglican Schools Commission’s Incorporated Victorian Agreement. Remuneration will be determined by the Principal according to qualifications and experience.
