Role:
The Student Wellbeing Officer will be a teacher or education support staff member who has skills in delivering Tier 1, 2 & 3 individual and group therapeutic interventions. They will work with staff, students and parents to support the mental health and development of students and build the capacity of the school community. This is a full time position – five days a week.
If you are a teacher, you will have a teaching load as well as a wellbeing role. If you aren’t a teacher, there are other roles that will make up your full load.
Key Selection Criteria
- Ability to provide 1- 1 and small group counselling and therapeutic interventions, working both autonomously and as a part of a team.
- Ability to plan, organise and deliver mental health and wellbeing educational programs for a range of groups within the school
- Knowledge of the impact of common issues related to mental health and neurodiversity, including Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and behavioural problems, on a person’s ability to learn.
- Ability to build strong relationships, communicate and collaborate with students, parents, teachers, school leadership and other mental health professionals.
- Provide advice to staff to assist the decision-making process on psychological, developmental, emotional and behaviour management issues, and critical incidents
- Awareness of mandatory reporting requirements and ethical issues related to school counselling.
