School Counsellor Camberwell Grammar School

JOB DESCRIPTION

ABOUT US

Camberwell Grammar School is an independent Anglican day school for boys from Pre-Preparatory to Year 12. We aim to give every student in our care the very best possible education in order to prepare them for life beyond school. We are a learning community which encourages staff, students, past students and parents to involve themselves fully in all aspects of school life and to identify themselves with its values; Learning, Respect, Integrity, Courage and Optimism. We are proud of the warm spirit and sense of community that characterises our school family.

Our School campus is located in the leafy inner East suburb of Canterbury, on land originally inhabited by the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation, and blends period architecture with exciting contemporary design and state-of-the-art facilities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a passionate, collaborative and innovative School Counsellor/Psychologist that will predominately work with our Middle and Senior School students.  This is an ongoing part time role (0.8 FTE) in a progressive, supportive and well-resourced educational environment.  The commencement date is by negotiation.

ABOUT YOU

You will have experience working within a school setting and be able to provide targeted therapeutic support to students addressing their social, emotional, behavioural and educational needs. A registered psychologist is preferred, however the School is open to offering the position to candidates with qualifications in other relevant allied health disciplines who have suitable school counselling experience.

You will predominantly be working with students, families and staff in the middle and senior school years, with the potential to engage with students from other year levels as required. You are an expert in your field who can lead by example and model exceptional practice and make a professional contribution to the School Counselling Team and to the development of wellbeing programs and initiatives in Middle and Senior School.

Candidates should have a higher degree within their chosen discipline, and registration with their relevant professional governing body (i.e. Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)). A demonstrated capacity to conduct comprehensive cognitive assessments (WISC-V/WAIS-IV) is strongly desired.

WHY JOIN CAMBERWELL GRAMMAR SCHOOL?

At Camberwell Grammar we have a vision of learning which encompasses all aspects of life – not just the intellectual, but also the social, cultural, physical and spiritual. Our programs are deliberately structured to educate the whole student – not just the mind. We hope to educate committed citizens of the future, interested and passionate about the problems facing our world and with the skills necessary to do something about them.

You will play a pivotal role in this vision.

BENEFITS OF WORKING AT CAMBERWELL GRAMMAR

  • Professional learning and development opportunities
  • Competitive remuneration
  • Access to outstanding state of the art facilities
  • A progressive, supportive and well-resourced educational environment
  • A welcoming, innovative and passionate community

Applications will be reviewed as they are received, and as such, the recruitment process may commence immediately.

Applications close: Friday 18 August 2023.

Camberwell Grammar School is committed to Child Safety. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and where appropriate be able to demonstrate experience working with children.  Applicants will have the opportunity to indicate their understanding of, or any experience they have in working with children with diverse needs and/or backgrounds.
