We are looking for School Counsellor – New Graduate Social Worker to help support those across students across Catholic schools in ACT and regional NSW. We work within a supportive team of clinicians, provide regular team meetings, professional development and supervision.

 

The Role

As a new graduate you will be exposed to a range of different counselling approaches. You will be provided with the opportunity to hone your counselling skills along with evidence informed therapeutic interventions.

 Your duties include:

• Counselling with children and/or young people

• Working with families to support their child and/or young person 

• Co-facilitation / facilitation of group programs 

• Critical incident support alongside an experienced clinician

• Practice according to social work ethics, values, and practice principles

• Ensure that clinical and administrative standards are maintained in accordance with the various program policies.

 As a School Counsellor you will be an integral part of a school’s pastoral care program and will work with students, families, and school staff to build safety, recovery, relationships, and resilience for a child / young person’s social, emotional and educational wellbeing.

The ideal person we are looking for has:

 • A recent Social Work graduate and member of AASW. Available to start in 2023. 

• Knowledge of issues affecting children, young people and families and current approaches to assist wellbeing, supporting recovery, and building relationships and resilience. 

• Demonstrated commitment to working within a child safety framework that is client centred and family focused.

• Excellent relationship building skills to maintain effective stakeholder relationships. 

• Basic computer literacy skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and simple data bases.

 

You will also be required to undergo a National Police Check.

 

To be considered for this role you will be also required to hold:

• a current driver’s licence, 

• a Working with Vulnerable People’s Card (if working in the ACT), 

• a Working with Children Check (if working in NSW).
