School Counsellor Part Time – AIC Adelaide Immediate Start Australian Islamic College

JOB DESCRIPTION

Australian Islamic College is a faith-based K-12 co-educational facility catering for over 4,000 students from four sites at Thornlie, Dianella and Kewdale in WA and Adelaide in SA.

We invite applications from suitably qualified, enthusiastic and experienced School Counsellor to join our Adelaide School on a Part-Time basis for two days per week commencing Term 4 2022. 

The duties of the role include,but are not limited to :

  • Provision of pastoral care and general spiritual advice.
  • Provision of comfort and support to students, staff and the school community, irrespective of spiritual beliefs.
  • Maintaining and promoting the Islamic and cultural aims and purposes of the school.
  • Working cooperatively with the Principal and Executive Principal to achieve the Mission and Aims of the College, as set by Board.
  • Reporting to the Principal on all matters and keeping the Principal fully informed of all developments relevant to the School’s affairs (within the scope of the School Counsellor’s duties and responsibilities).
  • Preparing and distributing relevant pastoral information to all staff for new students commencing during the course of a school year.
  • Communicating with participation Managers or the Non-Government Schools Psychology Service, who are able to assist with ‘disengaged’ students or ‘at risk’ students.
  • Developing and maintaining effective communication and sound relationships with students, parents, and the wider community through a variety of communication forms.

Applicants MUST:

  • Live in Adelaide and have the rights to work in Australia without restrictions.
  • Hold an applicable counselling qualification. 
  • Have a sound understanding of Islam.
  • Have or be able to obtain a Working with Children Check clearance before commencement
  • Provide names and contact details of two work-related referees
