School Counsellor/Provisional Psychologist

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide mental health support and counselling services to students, promoting overall well-being and positive mental health. 
  • Conduct individual and group counselling sessions, addressing a wide range of student needs, including academic, emotional, and social concerns.
  • Develop and implement tailored intervention strategies to support students experiencing challenges related to behavioural, emotional, or psychological issues.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and staff to create and implement proactive initiatives that foster a safe and supportive school environment. 
  • Conduct assessments and develop appropriate plans in consultation with students and their families. 
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions, ensuring compliance with privacy and legal requirements. 
  • Keep up-to-date with developments in the field of mental health and counselling, participating in relevant professional development activities. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Diploma of Counselling (postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded). 
  • Provisional psychologist registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligibility to obtain registration. / Registration with the Australian Counsellors Association (ACA) or eligibility to obtain registration.
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a school or clinical setting is strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by students in a school environment. – Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and trust with students and their families. 
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities, with the capacity to work effectively with teachers, staff, and parents. 
  • A commitment to the values and ethos of  an Anglican education.
