Kincoppal-Rose Bay School of the Sacred Heart, founded in 1882, is a leading Catholic Independent Day and Boarding School located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs. The college is co-educational ELC-6, and girls only 7-12.
At present, we are inviting applications for a Full Time School Counsellor / Psychologist, commencing in Term 1, 2023. As a key stakeholder in the wider Pastoral / Wellbeing team at our beautiful and historic harbourside School, you will report to the Head of Counselling, and manage your own caseload of student matters across K-12 (dependant on experience), providing individual counselling and therapeutic interventions.
The role:
- Full Time position
- Works school term-time only (38 weeks) + 5 extra days spread across Terms 1-4 non-term-time (39 weeks total)
- Salary paid in full across the whole year (i.e. not annualised according to proportion of year worked)
- Individual and small group case management
- In collaboration with leaders within the Pastoral teams across K-12 day and boarding schools, assist in the development of student-focused and parent-focused mental health and wellbeing initiatives in anticipation of and in response to emerging trends
- Alongside key staff, assist with the school response to student-related Critical Incidents through the provision of instruction, counselling, and debriefing
- NB: this is a student-facing role, and so full on-campus attendance (8am- 4pm, Mon-Fri) is required during School weeks
The ideal candidate:
- Fully qualified, registered Psychologist
- Demonstrated experience in providing psychological intervention for children, adolescents, and their families within a systemic therapeutic paradigm
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary issues and trends in Child Psychology
- Working knowledge of Child Protection legislation and practice.
- A team player with strong organisation skills
- Personable and outgoing with a flair for effective communication at all levels
- Prepared to support the ethos of a Sacred Heart education and be an active and visible participant in the dynamic life of our school
