JOB DESCRIPTION

As a School Counsellor, you will provide and deliver counselling and mental health services as part of Centacare NENW’s mission.  You will work under supervision within professional practice and Agency guidelines.  To work effectively as a member of a multi disciplinary team

Remuneration

This position operates under the Health Professionals & Support Services Award 2020. The pay rate is between $40.80/hr – $46.40/hr depending on qualifications & experience.

About The Role 

Working as part of our team some key responsibilities include but is not limited to:

  • To select and administer specialist psychological assessments including specialised psychometric assessment (as appropriate), structured observations, clinical interviews, and to interpret and integrate this data.
  • To formulate treatment plans that are specific to each client, based upon an analysis of complex factors contributing to the presentation, and selectively drawing on appropriate conceptual and theoretical models.
  • To deliver evidence based therapeutic treatments, monitoring outcomes drawing on a range of theoretical options. The ability to administer an appropriate risk management plan.
  • To maintain high standards of clinical record keeping and report writing, according to professional and Agency guidelines, including electronic data entry and recording. To ensure that all services provided are acceptable and accessible to the diverse communities which make up the catchment area of Centacare NENW.
  • Adhere to AHPRA Standards and a supervised practice plan; within a 2 year internship completion date.
  • To work closely with a school based team to provide support to students and staff.

Essential Criteria

  • Have current registration with AHPRA/ AASW/ ACA.
  • Skills in the delivery of both individual and group counselling
  • Experience working with or alongside young people and adolescents
  • Well-developed consultation skills to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • NSW Drivers Licence, as travel within the New England Region may be required.
