An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and passionate School Counsellor to support the wellbeing of students within our vibrant city-based campus.

The role of the School Counsellor is to take a proactive approach of progressing student wellbeing and to provide therapeutic support for students across Years 7 – 12. Their role is primarily to support and assist St George’s Anglican Grammar School to better understand and manage student mental health and wellbeing issues, with a view to continuing to improve and maximise educational outcomes for the students in our care. 

The School Counsellor will work as part of the Pastoral Care Team, reporting directly to the Head of Pastoral. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, forward thinking and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Understanding the principles of Positive Psychology so as to support the development of our Wellbeing and Character Curriculum would be an advantage, as would an understanding of Restorative Practices. 

To be successful in the role, you will need to demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a small team to positively advance our highly regarded pastoral care programmes and initiatives. Our ideal candidate would have relevant experience in providing counselling to adolescents and preferably a Master of Counselling. 

This is a part time, term time only position (0.6FTE), ideally working three days a week.
