St Thomas More School is a Reception to Year 6 school in the Elizabeth Catholic Parish. We are a welcoming Catholic community with the Mercy tradition and values embedded in all we do. Our school is inclusive and respectful for families with different spiritualities, faith and life journeys.

As a result, our school is diverse and caring. We offer excellence in contemporary teaching and learning including specialist teaching in Physical Education, Italian and STEAM. Staff and students have access to the latest learning technologies. The school’s Wellbeing programs and practices empower individuals to succeed and flourish in their learning and within their connections with others.

We provide a differentiated and personalised learning intervention for students based on their needs and work in partnership with parents and caregivers in guiding children towards becoming the best that they can be. 

The school provides Outside School Hours Care and Vacation Care, a modern multipurpose gymnasium, new and flexible learning spaces, extensive play areas and Canteen facilities. 

The Role

  • Permanent Part-Time commencing 22 January 2024
  • 22.5 hours per week and 40 weeks per year (approx. 0.5FTE)
  • 3 days per week from 8.00am to 4.00pm
  • Catholic Education ESO Grade 6

The School Counsellor supports school leadership through the application of specialist professional knowledge and strategies to identify and address student issues in order to promote student safety, wellbeing, and to facilitate successful learning. 

The School Counsellor, as a qualified professional, works with school leaders, staff, families and external agencies to support the wellbeing of students and provide confidential counselling to students including where emotional, social or scholastic matters. The School Counsellor forms a vital part of the support services available to students.

The role includes elements of counselling, triage, case management and proactive, psycho-educative work.
