About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Student Welfare Services, we are seeking to appoint a School Counsellor with a track record of excellence in supporting student welfare who will contribute enthusiastically to the broader positive culture of the school.
As a key member of the Student Welfare Services team, you will assist in the existing wellbeing program structure to further strengthen Tintern’s position to support the long-term success of our students. As a member of a relevant professional association, you will provide counselling services to students and families, recommend referrals to external agencies where required, assist in the assessment of students’ safety and welfare needs. You will bring your passion for student welfare to the School and above all, have a willingness to engage, connect and care for our students.
This is a part-time role, effective Term 1, 2023.
Prerequisite: Current membership of the Australian Psychological Society or the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.

You will be able to demonstrate excellence in supporting student and family welfare in a school environment. You will demonstrate:
- Care and connectedness with students
- Post-graduate or similar qualifications in student wellbeingor related area
- Experience in an educational setting
- Strong IT skills
- Ability to encourage and motivate students
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Flexible, responsive and creative with an innovative mindset
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
