Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia’s leading and most respected co-educational independent schools.  With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana, Lochend and a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.

The Wesley College at Clunes residential program provides our Year 9 students with the opportunity to learn about themselves, the wider community, and our Australian culture in the unique setting of the small Victorian town of Clunes, 35 kilometres northwest of Ballarat.  The focus for the 8-week program is upon education of the whole person. Emphasis is given to experiential, social and emotional learning, independent inquiry, community engagement and shared living.                                  

The College is seeking an experienced and passionate Student Counsellor for a part-time (0.8 FTE) position starting in January 2024. This position is ongoing and based at our Clunes campus.

The role of the counsellor is to provide counselling services to the campus community of students associated with the campus.  In making this appointment, the College is seeking applicants who, among other qualities, can demonstrate:

  • Qualifications and current registration as a psychologist with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA)
  • Experience providing specialist counselling to students with regards to personal, emotional, social and intellectual difficulties
  • Experience providing counselling support for staff members with regard to personal, emotional, professional and social difficulties.
  • The ability to work in a climate of confidentiality.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills
