What you’ll be doing
The School-Link Mental Health Clinician provides the link between NSW Health and the Department of Education (DoE) to work together to improve the mental health, wellbeing and resilience of children and young people in NSW.
The School-Link Mental Health Clinician provides specialist mental health services through consultation liaison, clinical care planning for recovery and the delivery of specialist mental health individual and group interventions in schools.
The School-Link Mental Health Clinician is to collaborate with education professionals to improve the early identification of students experiencing mental health problems and link students with the care they need. They also play a key role in suicide prevention activities in schools and assist schools to manage challenging behaviours related to complex mental health issues such as self-harm and suicidal ideation.

Essential Criteria:
Qualification: Fully registered Psychologist with Master’s degree; Social Worker and Occupational Therapist as per award
Registration: Full registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
for Psychologist & Occupational Therapist; Social Worker eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Selection Criteria:
- Demonstrated clinical experience in working with children/youth in mental health setting or educational setting
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience in working with schools
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across professions and services
- Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of work within deadlines
- Demonstrated knowledge of the concepts of promotion, prevention, early intervention and evidence-based practice in mental health
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate meaningfully with children, young people and carers/families with a commitment and understanding of recovery principles in mental health
- Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia.
