Job Opportunity
We are seeking to expand our counselling services team and are looking for an experienced school counsellor/ psychologist to provide counselling services to students within a school setting. Initially the position will be offered for a 12- month period with the opportunity for extension. This pivotal role reports directly to the Principal and works closely with teachers to provide effective counselling and support to students in both a Primary and secondary school setting.
Criteria for this position:
- Appropriate qualifications as set by AHPRA or PACFA.
- Registration with AHPRA or clinical registration with PACFA.
- Skilled in approaching both children and adolescents including conducting assessments and interventions.
- Support of the Islamic ethos and values of the school.
- Willingness to work closely, effectively, and cohesively with executive leadership team and staff.
- Clear awareness of the central role wellbeing plays in enabling students to flourish.
- Time management skills to ensure provision of services in a timely manner.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and interact with students and families in a sensitive, positive, and respectful manner.
- Strong duty of care towards young persons and a clear understanding of the need to provide confidential and evidence-based services within a school setting.
- Willingness to train and support staff in counselling strategies and the implementation of wellbeing programs.
- Confidence in own ability to make judgements and provide professional opinion when required.
- Clear understanding of child protection legislation and guidelines.
- Previous experience working as a psychologist/counsellor within a school setting
