The School

Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School has over 2900 students from K-12 at campuses in Moonee Ponds, Essendon and Keilor East. We have outstanding staff, facilities and programmes to enhance student learning and well-being.

The Role

An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified psychologist to join the school’s student wellbeing team to support students from Kindergarten to Year 12, providing professional counselling, and assessment as required. You will have experience in child, adolescent and family issues related to education.

 The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • Registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority, preferably full registration
  • Relevant experience in a school environment
  • A qualification in educational psychology would be of benefit
  • Ability to effectively deal with child, adolescent and family issues in an educational context
  • Ability to engage others and build trusting, effective relationships with students, parents and staff
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team, to ensure shared understandings of issues
  • Ability to work effectively with highly sensitive and confidential matters
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent time management, organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to innovate, develop and implement programs that meet students’ needs
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe, stimulating and challenging learning environment
  • A commitment to child safety, demonstrating an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children with diverse needs and backgrounds
  • A valid Working With Children Check Card
