ROLE PURPOSE

The School Psychologist of Knox Grammar Preparatory School will sensitively establish trusting connections and a reputation as a reliable, composed, kind and wise source of wellbeing advice and interventions. They will enjoy excellent collegiality, professional development and supervision as part of the Prep psychologist team, and the larger Psychologist Team across Knox’s other two local campuses.

This position is permanent part-time 0.4FTE, 2 days per week (preferably Tuesday and Thursday), to commence on January 20, 2023.

The School Psychologist will optimize the wellbeing of students through:

  • Triage, counselling, referral and case management
  • Individual child therapy
  • Family/parenting counselling
  • Assessment and identification of needs of individuals and groups
  • Providing professional advice to staff and parents.
  • Case conceptualisation

Essential Criteria

  • Experience counselling children aged 5-12 using evidence-based interventions (mandatory)
  • Current Professional Psychologist Registration (AHPRA) (mandatory)
  • Experience counselling in a school or educational Setting
  • Experience providing parenting interventions/support or Family Therapy
  • Chinese language competence, or experience working with CALD students and families, would be an advantage.
