JOB DESCRIPTION

Very Helpful Chats is a virtual psychology and allied health practice providing mental health treatment, counselling, assessments, and coaching to neurodivergent adults and adolescents. We are now seeking new clinical team members – anywhere in Australia – to provide neurodiversity-affirming therapy and counselling services via telehealth.

 

Position Summary :

The Counsellor/Therapist is responsible for providing counselling and therapy to neurodivergent adults and adolescents via telehealth. We are seeking counsellors and therapists of all kinds: relationship therapists, music therapists, art therapists, psychologists, AMHSWs, and counsellors of other disciplines to provide neurodiversity-affirming services for our clients. Position to start in 2023!

Job Responsibility :

  • Deliver neurodiversity-affirming counselling and therapy consultations via telehealth for adult and adolescent clients seeking individual, group, family or relationship counselling and therapy.
  • Develop counselling and therapy goals and intervention areas in collaboration with clients that are tailored to the individual’s needs, life circumstances, and disability.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans when clinically indicated.
  • Participate in supervision and continuing professional development activities to maintain registration requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clients as per federal and state privacy laws.

 

Key Requirements :

  • Experience working with adults and/or adolescents as a counsellor or therapist in your chosen field: art therapy, music therapy, relationship counselling, psychology, social work, or another counselling field.
  • Understanding or experience adapting your clinical practice to a telehealth service.
  • Experience working with neurodivergent adults including Autistic adults, adult ADHD’ers, adults with learning differencesm adults with other disability (desirable)
  • Experience delivering counselling and therapy services to adults and/or adolescents living with chronic physical health conditions, chronic illness or chronic pain (desirable).
  • Lived experience of ADHD, Autism, learning differences, disability, mental illness, chronic physical illness or chronic pain (desirable).
  • Lived experience of being a member of the LGBTIQ+ community (desirable)
