Providing leadership, guidance and oversight of the day-to-day function of the Magistrates Early Referral Into Treatment (MERIT) team in collaboration with the Alcohol and Other Drugs service managers. MERIT is a court diversion program that provides the opportunity for suitable local court defendants with drug problems to address their drug use, associated lifestyle and health issues.
If you have:
- Tertiary qualifications in the following disciplines – Social Work, Counseling, Psychology. Be a member of relevant associations or registered with the relevant board, Professions which fall under the Health Professionals State Award (Psychology, Social Worker, Counselor) Must provide documented evidence of 3 years clinical experience in their profession and work under minimal direct professional supervision
- Demonstrated experience in providing specialist clinical leadership and support to staff delivering drug and alcohol interventions, within the criminal justice system, including but not limited to, screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management, contributing to treatment and discharge planning, referral, group work and community follow up
- Knowledge of current trends and evidence based practice in alcohol and other drugs treatment. Ability to exercise independent professional judgement when required in solving problems and managing cases where principles, procedures, techniques and methods require expansion, adaptation or modification
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of contemporary human resource management practices including, but not limited to, workplace health and safety, professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex patients, and conflict resolution
