PGCNV is one of the primary providers of family and domestic violence services in the Northern Corridor, which includes Three Safe Accommodation sites.
Our reputation is driven by our commitment to providing a high-quality client focused sustainable service to clients accessing our suite of programs and services.
In addition to the provision of accommodation services, PGCNV ensures timely and effective provision of advocacy, referral information and support to women and their children seeking relief from the impact of domestic violence.
ROLE
We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to join the Pat Giles Team in our newly created Senior Child Advocate Role.
ROLE PURPOSE
As the Senior Child Advocate, you will provide trauma-informed services for children escaping Family and Domestic Violence, collaborate with a diverse team to create an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere, advocate for clients’ best interests within the service, and maintain accurate and confidential records while upholding the highest ethical standards.
KEY DELIVERY AREAS INCLUDE:
- Provide trauma informed case management in a fast paced, high volume work environment including documenting assessments, developing, and actioning My Star plans as part of PGCNV’s case management approach
- Lead the development of therapeutic services in collaboration with other colleagues and stakeholders
- Conduct risk assessments and safety planning, particularly where children are at risk of harm or when domestic family violence is occurring.
- Build on parent and family knowledge, skills and supports to meet the needs of the child, optimising their development and ability to participate in family and community life.
- Work in accordance with PGCNV’s Clinical Governance and Risk Frameworks, guidelines, and procedures
- Lead continuous improvement opportunities by creating a safe fun space for children in our service.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- There may be a requirement for some weekend working.
COMPETENCIES:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- Extensive experience in child advocacy, community development or case management
- You will have the ability to lead the development of children’s services across three refuge sites
- You will have commitment to using a rights-based approach in your work
- Your knowledge and experience gives you confidence advocating for others
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively engage with a diverse range of individuals and stakeholders
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed care and a commitment to cultural safety and diversity
- Sound interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work in a professional manner with a wide range of client
- Proven ability to work as part of a larger team
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to make well-informed decisions
- Proficiency in information technology and the ability to adapt to new software and platforms
QUALIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or in a related discipline essential
- Substantial demonstrated experience, knowledge, and skill as a Child Advocate
- Always hold a valid WWC Card and current driver’s licence
- Valid Police Clearance (no older than 3 months). Subsequently staff must report any criminal charges or court appearances.
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Proof of Right to Work in Australia
