The Senior Child Safety Support Officer key responsibilities are:
- Effectively and positively engage with children, families, carers and service providers (including both government and non-government agencies) as required to support children and parents to meet their identified case plan goals.
- Provide individualised, high quality, and culturally appropriate supports to children and families subject to tertiary child protection intervention including, but not limited to; facilitation of positive family connection, referrals and advocacy for services, parent coaching and support of transition from care plans.
- Work collaboratively with key stakeholders, children and parents to support the establishment and strengthening of effective safety and support networks, including connection to extended family and community.
- Provide high quality, comprehensive casework support and advice to assist in informing decisions about the safety and protective needs of children where complex child protection concerns are present.
- Participate effectively as a team member in a multidisciplinary team to deliver well-planned family support services to vulnerable children and families.
- Actively contribute to a culture of continuous learning, training and professional development, to ensure practice knowledge and skills are contemporary and evidence based.
- Prepare and maintain quality case records in accordance with departmental case management requirements.
