  • Conduct in depth risk assessments, including assessment of suicide risk and violence and provide follow up support, referrals, and treatment.
  • Refer young people as appropriate and provide follow up support.
  • Facilitate and monitor the integration and coordination of care of headspace Southport clients, including participating in case review meetings.
  • Participate in the duty and intake system, answering phone calls, enquiries and written referrals, screening and assessing needs, prioritizing, and making appropriate follow up appointments and referrals.
  • Assist the Team Leader to coordinate the day to day/shift activities of the Primary Access and Intake Team.
  • Provide clinical support and supervision when needed to the clinical team.

About you

To be successful in the role, you need to be an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences.

You will also possess the following skills and experience:

  • Approved tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline such as a Registered Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, Social Worker, or other relevant Allied Health discipline.
  • High level knowledge and understanding of mental health, evidence-based interventions, and clinical practice.
  • Demonstrated excellence in the practical application of such, in the areas of mental health and alcohol and drug use.
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake initial screening activities and a comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessment to determine client care needs and provide appropriate follow up support.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to conduct a risk assessment, including suicide risk and violence.
  • Experience in the delivery of brief therapeutic interventions, group programs, counselling services and treatment planning.
  • Highly developed communication (including written) and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage with young people, advocate on their behalf and establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients, carers, and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver individual or group-based skills training activities to assist clients’ psychosocial functioning (e.g., life skills, anger management, problem solving, conflict resolution, etc.)
  • Eligibility for membership of AHPRA or the appropriate professional body is preferred.

The remuneration for this position will be commensurate with the successful applicant’s qualifications, skills and experience and will range between gross $93,860 to $98,108.40 per annum plus superannuation and salary packaging.
