About the opportunity
We have a new opportunity for an experienced and enthusiastic Counsellor to join our Family Services Program. Responding to referrals from Child FIRST, the Family Services Program supports families who are experiencing high levels of stress and difficulties that impact on parenting, family life and children’s well being.
The Senior Counsellor will be responsible for:
- Providing assessment and counselling services to children, young people, adults, couples and families with complex needs referred by Family Services
- Providing specialist consultation to Family Services Practitioners, client families and other professionals
- Developing and facilitating psycho-therapeutic group programs for children, adolescents or families

About you
To be successful in your application you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related discipline.
You will also have:
- Demonstrated experience providing assessment counselling services to children, young people adults, couples, and/or families with complex needs
- Strong understanding of trauma informed practice, child development and the impact of abuse and neglect
- Proven ability to assess risk and respond appropriately
- Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
