The headspace Senior Mental Health Clinician will work under the direction of the Manager headspace Wagga Wagga to support with leading, developing, implementing, and overseeing the clinical operations and future development of Clinical Services of the Mental Health Program in Young. This position focuses on ensuring excellence in quality care provision by ensuring adherence to the clinical governance and providing supervision and support to Young Mental Health team. This position also maintains a case load of young people to whom focused psychological strategies will be delivered.

Your new role

• provides a range of focused psychological interventions (both individual and group) for young people with diagnosed or emerging mental health disorders or drug and alcohol problems;
• engages families in the clinical care of young people in line with headspace National Family Inclusive Practice principles.
• provides secondary consultation and specialist advice about intake and assessment.
• collaborates with Mental Health Clinicians to monitor young people and ensure that appropriate assessment, management and follow up support is provided.

What you’ll need to succeed

1. Tertiary qualification in the field of Social Work, Social Science, Psychology, Counselling or related area and current registration with at least one of the professional associations
2. Demonstrated experience in a range of mental health service settings, including complex clinical intake, assessment, and referral, as well as managing young people at risk, including suicide and violence risks.
3. Demonstrated knowledge & understanding of particular issues facing minority and diverse communities and ability to respond respectfully, and in particular with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, culturally diverse communities and LGBTQIA communities.
4. Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines, while demonstrating adaptability and flexibility to changing work environments.

This position is a Part-time 30 hours per week, fixed term role till 30 June 2023, based in Young, NSW.
