headspace Southport is operated by Lives Lived Well, a progressive, for purpose organisation, delivering leading edge clinical services aimed at supporting people to live their lives well.

headspace Southport has a range of Youth Mental Health Programs for young people aged 12 to 25 years and are currently seeking Senior Mental Health Clinicians. headspace Early Psychosis provides assessment, early intervention and case management delivered by a multi-disciplinary team for young people with a first episode of psychosis or at risk of a psychotic illness. Lighthouse provides individual, evidence-based treatment to young people aged 12 to 18 years old who are currently experiencing the impacts of past complex trauma.

All programs are run with support from peers who have experienced the same or similar challenges and have shared values of a positive commitment to non-judgmental, recovery focused care.

About the roles

headspace Early Psychosis and Lighthouse currently have a range of part-time (8 day fortnight or 9 day fortnight) and full-time; permanent and max term contracts opportunities across the service based at Southport including in:

  • Mobile Assessment and Treatment Team (MATT) works in an outreach assertive engagement model. Day to day work in MATT is varied and includes providing comprehensive assessments, clinical formulation development, and planning recommendations, advocacy, and clinical liaison with relevant stakeholders.
  • Continuing Care Team (CCT) manages a clinical caseload of young people focused on early intervention providing recovery-oriented interventions in line with current best practice guidelines and young people’s goals, as well as care co-ordination with all involved supports.
  • Functional Recovery Team (FRT) promotes the functional recovery of young people and work alongside the CCT. Daily tasks in FRT include planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based fitness, creative and outdoor adventure therapy-based groups with a psychoeducation element, together with holding a 1:1 caseload.
  • Lighthouse provides individual, evidence-based treatment to young people aged 12 to 18 years old who are currently experiencing the impacts of past complex trauma. It is a recovery orientated service which aims to provide timely access to effective, safe, and appropriate care for adolescents, through delivering evidence-based treatment and therapies following the Blue Knot Practice Guidelines for Treatment of Complex Trauma. 

Reporting to the Team Leader, as a Senior Clinician you will:

  • Take a lead role in a multi-disciplinary team delivering evidence-based interventions, working collaboratively with young people, their families, and their supports.
  • Provide clinical leadership to our Clinicians and day to day shift co-ordination, role modelling organisational values
  • Establish and maintain strong networks with relevant organisations and providers.

About you

To be successful in the role, you need to be an engaging individual with the ability to connect with clients who are navigating mental health challenges and difficult life experiences. You must have a genuine passion and commitment to making a positive difference to young people and their family. 

You will also possess the following skills and experience:

  1. Tertiary qualification in a relevant field i.e., Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Counselling and eligibility for membership of an appropriate professional body. FRT qualification in Occupational Therapy with experience in mental health will be highly regarded.
  2. Demonstrated significant experience in mental health care, including completion of mental health assessments, risk assessments, clinical formulations and psychosocial treatment for young people experiencing serious and complex mental health disorders.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and problem solve in the absence of direct supervision
  4. A high level of interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  5. Capacity to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, clients, carers, and stakeholders
  6. Strong time management skills and ability to balance workloads while maintaining self-care.
  7. You want to challenge yourself and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, solving complex issues.
  8. You are passionate about learning and self-development.
  9. You are diligent, thoughtful, reflective, inclusive, and genuine.

For hEP:

  1. Demonstrated experience in youth mental health, with knowledge of early psychosis theory and the EPPIC model.

For Lighthouse:

  1. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with providing individualised, trauma specific therapy.

Compensation

Base pay from gross $88,761 to $96,962 per annum + salary packaging + 10.5% super, depending on skills, knowledge and experience.
