About the facility
The multidisciplinary phone triage team is one of four teams within the community acute intervention service. The team offers intake, advice and referral to consumers aged 26-64yrs during business hours as well as servicing all ages’ crisis contacts outside of business hours, 7 days per week. Its aim is to provide timely and effective phone-based assessment to triage the mental health and/or drug and alcohol needs of consumers and their families. The Acute Intervention Service is experiencing considerable growth as part of the Barwon Health Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Service and therefore creates many opportunities for career progression and varied opportunities.
About the Role
As the Senior Clinician, you will have highly proficient phone triage skills to complete assessments of consumer needs and refer onto the most appropriate service. Referrals come from consumers, carers or other stakeholders calling in via a central intake phone number. Senior clinicians will demonstrate leadership in both the ongoing development of the team and support the C-AIS manager with day-to-day operations of the team. You will be expected to be proficient in;
- Gathering details of mental health and drug and alcohol histories from consumers, carers and other treating professionals
- Using the Victorian state-wide triage scale
- Referring internal to other Barwon Health Mental Health Drug and Alcohol agencies, as well as the local AOD consortium members and other mental health and psycho-social support agencies in the local area
- The team works on a 7-day per week roster with an expectation of working a mix of weekdays, weekends morning shift (0700hrs) and afternoon shift (1330hrs). The team allows self-rostering to ensure a healthy work lie balance.
