Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children and families? Capital Region Community Services (CRCS) Child and Family Services is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Senior Practitioner – Child and Families to join the team.

The services provided include parent/carer education, support groups, early education support, targeted interventions for families and children, evidence-based therapeutic programs, and supported/targeted playgroups. Practitioners will work collaboratively as a team to deliver tailored services across these programs, ensuring the best outcomes for all involved.
About the role
Reporting to the Program Manager, Child and Family Services, the Senior Practitioner is a specialist role that is responsible for supporting and leading employee practice within the Families stream (Family Support, Family Foundations and Family Education), leading to improved participant outcomes and effective support experiences. The incumbent will support and develop employees across these programs through the integration of theory and practice whilst demonstrating their expertise through case practice and supervision. With a small case load of participants with more complex needs, the incumbent will be responsible for the day to day practice of programs which sit within the Families stream, including, but not limited to, employee supervision, allocation of referrals and caseloads, participant audits, and quality review processes.
Selection Criteria
- Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or other relevant qualifications.
- If you are a psychologist, current registration or eligibility for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia to practice as a psychologist is also essential. For Social Workers, you must be eligible for AASW Qualified Social Worker membership. For Counsellors, you must be eligible for ACA.
- Experience and certification in delivering evidence-based group parenting and other psychoeducation programs (eg Circle of Security, Tuning into Kids) or willingness to become trained and certified, and deliver group programs.
- Experience in interventions and individual/group therapeutic support using a family and person-centred approach.
Special Criteria for the position:
- Holds a current Driver’s Licence and has access to a roadworthy, registered and comprehensively insured vehicle for work purposes.
- Holds current registration or is eligibility for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia to practice as a psychologist (if applicable).
- Undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile if required as determined by CRCS.
Desirable qualifications and expertise:
- First Aid Certificate.
- Registration as a board-approved psychology supervisor with AHPRA.
- Current membership with professional body, such as The Australian Association of Social Workers or the Australian Psychological Society.
CRCS also requires all employees to:
- Hold or be willing to obtain a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration (ACT) and/or a Working with Children Check (NSW), and have these with them at all times whilst employed by CRCS.
- Undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by CRCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise CRCS of any convictions that may effect their eligibility to work or perform the inherent requirements of their position
- Maintain full COVID-19 vaccination currency and provide evidence of their vaccinations to CRCS (sensitive information is kept private and in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles) unless they are able to provide suitable evidence of a medical contraindication that prevents them from receiving this vaccine.
