The Department for Child Protection is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join the Limestone Coast office located at Mt Gambier on a full-time term basis.
The role is responsible for:
- Enhancing Social Worker capacity and principles of social work practice by providing support and practice expertise
- Providing consultation and advice to DCP staff in relation to professional practice and cultural issues, departmental policies, procedures, legislation and staff development needs
- Contributing to the development and delivery of workplace learning and development opportunities
- Undertaking regular reviews of cases to ensure that effective plans are in place and appropriate case management is occurring.

We are looking for a confident individual who has the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with people both within government, non-government sector and community.
You will have experience in providing professional advice on social work/case management matters through coaching and mentoring of peers. To be successful you will have the ability to analyse complex problems and resolve matters that demonstrate reflective practice.

The Region
Mt Gambier
The Mount Gambier office employs approximately 48 people and covers a large geographical area from Lower Glenelg National Park to North of Bordertown (Tatiara District) and across to Kingston SE (Kingston District).
As a member of this team you will work with other professionals to deliver services to assist families who are unable to effectively and safely care for their children, to work towards a safe return to their care and work with children who have entered into the care of the Chief Executive so that their development, stability and security is assured.

Special Conditions
Essential Qualifications:
AHP: A degree level qualification in Social Work which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).
PO: Appropriate degree qualification in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or related field.
