Job location
This position is based in the outpatient service of Ravenhall Correctional Centre. Completed in 2017, the new medium-security men’s prison is located at Ravenhall Correctional Centre in Melbourne’s west, providing world-class forensic mental health services in Victoria in a purpose-built state of the art facility developed to international best practice standards.
Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.
About the Role:
As a Senior Psychologist within the Outpatients service, your tasks may include
- The Senior Psychologist is based within the Outpatient program at Ballerrt Yeram-boo-ee as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
- The role involves the provision of specialist mental health assessment, intervention, and clinical management to address the mental health needs of men within Ravenhall Correctional Centre.
- The Senior Psychologist provides a high level of clinical psychological expertise, consultation and advice to Forensicare clinicians, GEO prison and clinical staff and Correct Care Australiasia staff on complex clinical matters.
- Contributes to special projects, committees and working parties within the organisation including the development of policies and procedures.
- As a senior professional representative, the position also provides consultancy and advice to other agencies and key stakeholders.
- The Senior Psychologist also participates in the training and supervision of psychology placement students, interns and staff of other disciplines where appropriate.
About You:
- Demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer recovery.
- Previous working experience in a mental health facility, or a forensic mental health service would be an advantage.
- Knowledge in clinical forensic psychology including forensic assessments (e.g., assessment of risk for violence) and intervention with offenders and/or forensic clients.
- A good understanding of the current psychological approaches in working with male patients experiencing mental illness in the forensic mental health setting
What you need:
- Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited course or equivalent, or a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology from an APS accredited course or equivalent.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).
- The successful candidate will be required to register their qualifications on eCredential.

Successful applicants will be required to provide evidence of three COVID-19 Vaccination prior to commencing work at Forensicare. Under the Victorian Public Health orders, all employees working within the Public Health system must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All applicants will also be required to provide evidence of a flu vaccination. The current orders require evidence of three doses.
