Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our team and help us continue our mission of youth empowerment and quality care. As a Social Worker at Progressive Youth Care & Consultancy, you will play a pivotal role in making a positive and lasting impact on the lives of young people aged 4 -18 who may be at risk of emotional, social, or physical harm, including those with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds in residential accommodation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide case management and support to young people in our care.
  • Build strong relationships with young individuals, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met.
  • Advocate for the needs of young people and liaise with external stakeholders.
  • Coach and work alongside Key Workers on projects to achieve goals for the young person.
  • Prepare and assist Key/Youth workers in helping young people transition to independent or semi-independent living.
  • Collaborate within a key care team to identify and address needs within the homes.
  • Ensure compliance with child protection policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clear standards of care within the residences.
  • Facilitate and encourage appropriate contact with biological family members.
  • Participate in on-call roster rotation as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Hold a Social Work Qualification or relevant degree.
  • Eligibility for registration with the AASW is preferable.
  • Experience working with or on behalf of children, promoting their positive development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team player.
  • Strong relationship-building skills within the community and among colleagues.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Understanding of IT requirements and databases.
  • Commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to participate in team meetings, staff meetings, training, and supervision.
  • Successful completion of relevant history checks and screening processes.
  • Flexibility to work as needed, including on-call rotations.
