About the role

This position sits within the Mental Health Pathways Cluster and has a leadership role within the Youth Residential Recovery Program (YRR) which supports young people aged 16-25 having a diagnosed mental illness for up to 12 months. It operates in Essendon (7 beds), Reservoir (8 beds) and St Albans (9 beds).

The Senior Mental Health and Wellbeing Coach will have a small caseload and be required to work every third weekend as well as participate in an afterhours oncall roster as negotiated within the team. This position is based in Essendon but will work across the 3 sites as required.

Key Responsibility Areas

  • Provide recovery-oriented services to young people (particularly those of a more complex nature)
  • Ensure balance of risk assessment and recovery-oriented practice by providing secondary consult and expert advice to staff across the program
  • Provide live day to day coaching and support to the team
  • Plan, coordinate, implement and administer day to day activities, keeping in line with relevant policies and procedures

Position Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification and/or commensurate work experience in mental health, youth or health
  • Extensive experience in working with young people who may have complex mental health needs
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Collaborative Recovery Model and/or principles of recovery
  • Demonstrated experience in group facilitation
