Service Leader – National Debt Helpline UnitingCare Community

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Service Leader to manage the day-to-day operations of the National Debt Helpline, which provides counselling support for people in financial stress when their circumstances change due to a job loss, illness, relationship breakdown, or retirement. 

Working within the established industry guidelines and UnitingCare’s mission goals, the Service Leader will lead and support the National Debt Helpline team toward responsible life changing personal financial decision making by providing financial counselling services; triage, assessment and intake services through a person centred, trauma informed led approach.

The Service Leader must have the ability to assess, recognise crisis situations and respond with a sense of urgency including, the ability to think quickly to prioritise and assign tasks under pressure. 

Note: This opportunity is offered on a permanent full-time basis. As a state-wide program the successful candidate has the flexibility to be based in selected site offices across QLD, having the ability to travel extensively across the state is essential. 

What you’ll need

  • Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience post accreditation. 
  • Eligible for Accredited membership and Approved Supervisor membership with the Financial Counselling Association of Queensland. 
  • Understanding of financial counselling, the finance industry and an awareness of consumer rights and responsibilities including the ability to keep informed of industry knowledge. 
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and licensing requirements associated with line of service. 
  • Thorough understanding of program management principles and techniques. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective systems, procedures and processes within prescribed policies and guidelines. 
  • Current drivers licence. 
  • Positive Blue Card 
  • Flexibility to travel from time to time
