The Role
As Service Manager – Counselling is responsible for the management of the Child and Family Counselling Services to children, young people, and their families. You will bring to the role strategic thinking, excellent communication skills with a comprehensive understanding of the issues faced by and a strong focus on clients who are involved in child protection matters. Your clinical expertise will also support the Society’s Special Works across the State.
To be successful in the role, you will meet the following criteria:
- Hold current professional memberships with the relevant professional associations, such as APS, AASW, ACA etc.
- Proven experience in clinical psychology or counselling, preferably in play therapy.
- Postgraduate tertiary qualifications in counselling, social work, psychology are highly desirable.
- Significant experience in clinical and therapeutic management of clients with complex care needs, 5 years and more
- Demonstrated achievements in providing leadership in a related field, leading a professional clinical and therapeutic service, demonstrating contemporary management practices, best practice methods and quality improvement and operation in an integrated service environment
- Demonstrated understanding of child development and trauma theory, to inform assessment, intervention and decision making
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Queensland child protection system including relevant legislation such as the Child Protection Act 1999
- A COVID-19 vaccination certificate is required in accordance with the Queensland Government Workers in a Healthcare Setting (COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements) Directive
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the St Vincent de Pail Society Queensland and an ability to work in accordance with the policies and procedures to promote the values and mission of the Society.
