Youth Focus is a for-purpose organisation that creates brighter futures for young people in Western Australia by offering a range of no-cost mental health services. Established in 1994, Youth Focus delivers innovative and accessible mental health services and programs across Western Australia to help at-risk young people aged 12 to 25. A key component of this, is our role as the lead agency for a number of headspace centres.

The Service Manager – Perth Metro position is a critical role within the Youth Focus leadership team. Youth Focus is looking for an experienced and passionate individual that can bring their leadership expertise to the role; a leadership superstar that will guide the multi-disciplinary team to success!

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer, the Service Manager’s key responsibilities include:

  • Hold overarching responsibility for the operational management of all services and programs within the designated Perth Metro team
  • Foster an engaging team culture, aligned with organisational values
  • Provide clinical supervision on a fortnightly basis to members of your counselling team, in collaboration with the Clinical Lead
  • Coordinate the care of clients allocated to your team by ensuring a daily understanding of each of your team member’s caseload, current treatment plans
  • Coordination of administrative requirements for student placements and counselling services professional development, leave, TOIL, and mileage
  • Ensure that clinical, ethical, statutory and YF policies, processes and procedures are adhered to
  • With support from Human Resources, oversee the management of clinical and staffing issues within your team including performance management, onboarding, recruitment, and employee relations
  • Proactively identify and meet with dependent and complimentary agencies, services, and organisations to promote an understanding of and enhance the YF brand
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with and learn from these agencies, services, and organisations
  • Analyse and report on program data ensuring programs are meeting funding and accreditation requirements
  • Oversee the management of the team budget and authorise budgeted expenditure in line with delegated authority

About You

To be considered for this position, applicants will have:

  • Tertiary level qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Occupational Therapy or Mental Health Nursing
  • Current registration with appropriate professional body, e.g., AHPRA, AASW
  • Postgraduate qualification, e.g., Registration, Diploma/Masters/PhD in Counselling, Clinical Psychology (desirable)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills with a minimum of five years’ experience working with young people including those at risk of suicide, depression and/or self-harm, and an understanding of the issues that impact on families and young peoples’ lives
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in counselling techniques and processes appropriate to working with young people and families
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating group programs for young people, and a demonstrated understanding of group work processes
  • Ability to work with flexibility in responding to young people and their needs
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • An ability to develop effective working relationships with other service providers
  • Advanced computer skills including client data management, calendar, and database applications
  • AHPRA approval to provide supervision to clinical placement students (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in the leadership of multidisciplinary teams, including the provision of clinical supervision and the facilitation of clinical review and performance management processes
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver to agreed deadlines
