This is a designated Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander Position. Pathfinders is currently looking for a permanent Full Time Community Benefits Program Support Worker to be based in Inverell, this is a dual role working in the SHS Inverell/Glen Innes Refuge and Outreach as well as dedicated hours to the Community Benefits Program. These dual roles will be for 37.5hrs per week.
The Support Worker will assist people to break the cycle of homelessness as well as focus on those at risk of homelessness that can be supported to remain in long term safe accommodation.
The role also requires some discretionary decision making in relation to observing and reporting behaviours of children, young people and families in contact visits and other activities where risk and safety are an issue.
They will also be required to assist vulnerable clients who are experiencing difficulty with gambling and mental health. In addition they will be required promote solutions in relation to gambling throughout the New England Region and will deliver an early intervention program highlighting potential issues for young people with online gambling and the links to online gaming.
The applicant will require knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW and be willing to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families in providing cultural support and provide services to Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal children, young people and families. The applicant will also be required to build strong relationships with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections
Travel will be a requirement.
This position is Level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”). Salary is negotiable dependent on qualifications, skills and experience.
